NI Prison Officers To Wear Body Worn Cameras
Prison officers in Northern Ireland will soon wear Body Worn Cameras to help improve safety in prisons.
The NI Prison Service carried out a successful pilot scheme of the use of Body Worn Cameras in high risk areas in the prison estate.
Justice Minister Claire Sugden confirmed Body Worn Cameras will be available for deployment in all areas of the three prison establishments.
She said: "I believe this is a significant and important step in ensuring that prison officers have the right tools to perform their difficult and challenging role and will contribute to a safer prison environment for both staff and prisoners."

DVA Enforcement Officers To Wear Body Worn Video Cameras
Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) enforcement officers will be equipped with body worn video cameras while on duty from today, Tuesday 19 February. The move is designed to reduce unacceptable behaviour targeted at staff as they carry out their job duties, and also to avoid prosecutions.

Three PSNI Officers Injured In Taxi Attack
Three police officers have been injured after coming under attack while trying to assist a taxi passenger over the weekend in Magherafelt. The incident occurred on Rainey Street in the early hours of Sunday morning, 12 May, when a taxi driver flagged down a police vehicle for help dealing with a drunk passenger.

53-Year-Old Dies In Custody At Maghaberry Prison
A 53-year-old has reportedly died in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has announced. The Department of Justice has reported that the prisoner died on Saturday 28 August, that his next of kin have been informed and that the death was not covid related.

A 22-year-old man has died while in custody at Maghaberry Prison, the Northern Ireland Prison Service has reported. The Department of Justice has confirmed that the man died in custody on the morning of Thursday, 30 August. The man's next of kin have been informed. The PSNI, Coroner and Prisoner Ombudsman have been informed about the death.
