BCC Seeks Input On Belfast Agenda

Belfast City Council (BCC) is calling for Belfast residents, business owners and students to attend one of four information sessions to hear about plans for the city's development and to voice their views on them.

The Belfast Agenda is the city's first community plan, which sets out a joint vision and long-term ambitions for Belfast, and outlines priorities for action over the next four years.

One of Belfast City Council's key responsibilities is to create the Local Development Plan - a land-use plan which will shape how the city should develop up to 2035. The first stage of this process, the Preferred Options Paper, will be available for public consultation from Thursday, 26 January.

The information sessions will give people the opportunity to give their feedback on both the Belfast Agenda and the Local Development Plan Preferred Options Paper. 

Calling for participation, Belfast Lord Mayor, Alderman Brian Kingston said: "We want Belfast to provide a high quality of life for everyone who lives here. And we want Belfast to be a great place to work, study, visit, or to set up and grow your business in. 

"The Belfast Agenda is our long term vision for the city, which we've developed over the past two years. We've listened carefully to the public and our partners on what's needed in terms of services, facilities and support programmes to achieve Belfast's vast potential.

"We're now keen to share the Belfast Agenda and the Local Development Plan to make sure that they reflect the shared ambitions and priorities of people and communities right across the city – and we look forward to getting feedback on them from as many people as possible at these events."

The information sessions are scheduled as follows:

• 30 January 2pm-4pm - Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Avenue

• 2 February 6.30pm-8.30pm - Olympia, Boucher Road

• 9 February 6.30pm-8.30pm - Skainos Centre, 241 Newtownards Road

• 13 February 2pm-4pm - Innovation Factory, Forthriver Business Park, Springfield Road
