2017 Northern Ireland Tourism Awards Launch
Tourism Northern Ireland has announced the 2017 Northern Ireland Tourism Awards (NITA), which celebrates the achievements and success of the tourism industry.
The categories and criteria for judging focusses on best practice in customer service, world class visitor experiences and quality tourism products.
The awards are open to all tourism and hospitality businesses, organisations or initiatives who meet the criteria for each category.
Businesses can put themselves forward for one of the following award categories:
• hotel of the year
• serviced accommodation (guesthouse and B&B)
• non-serviced accommodation (self-catering)
• unique tourist accommodation
• best food tourism experience
• best marketing initiative
• customer service excellence
• best event or festival experience
• outstanding visitor experience
• sustainable tourism
• tourism innovation
• most promising new tourism business
To enter the awards, businesses can complete and submit an application for its chosen category. Applications should be sent to email: tourismni@morrowcommunications.com by 6 February 2017.
Applications will be scored against certain criteria to create a shortlist in the first stage. The second stage will use a range of methods, depending on the category, to decide the winner, including mystery shopping, public vote and presentation to the panel.

The Eastside Awards is a new initiative aimed at highlighting and celebrating all that is good about East Belfast, whilst showcasing the contributions being made to the economic, social and community development of the area.

A speed networking event is set to bring together all four Causeway Coastal Route (CCR) clusters to introduce their respective tourism products. Businesses will have one to one exchanges, each lasting five minutes, in a bid to foster collaborative initiatives and help entrepreneurs identify more opportunities for tourism experiences.

Belfast Secures International Conference
Some 120 international buyers will meet in Belfast next Spring for a prestigious conference that's set to boost the local tourism economy. HelmsBriscoe will hold its European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) Regional Meeting in the city next March, a conference that last year secured a total of 1.27 billion dollars in meetings revenue worldwide.
