Road traffic accident claims man's life

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a road traffic accident in Co Londonderry on Friday morning.

Aaron Purcell, 19, from Ardina Road in Articlave was in one of two cars that collided on the Quilly Road between Coleraine and Articlave at around 7.30am. One other person was injured and has been taken to hospital. He is said to be in a critical condition.

Elsewhere, a man has been arrested after police discovered a pipe bomb factory in east Belfast. Police are linking to the discovery to loyalist paramilitaries. An assembled pipe bomb, components of other devices, fireworks and a sawn-off shot gun were discovered during the search of a house in Glenbrook Avenue on Thursday.
