Minister opens Denver Invest NI centre
Enterprise Minister, Ian Pearson has opened Invest NI's new Technology and Development Centre in Denver.
The new Centre, which is located in the World Trade Centre, was officially opened during a trade and investment visit to the US and Canada by the Minister and a number of local companies.
Speaking at the launch, the third to be established by Invest NI in the US, Mr Pearson said: “The new Technology and Development Centre provides an ideal opportunity for Northern Ireland companies to connect with new customers and potential partners in Denver.
“The centre offers companies, particularly smaller enterprises, with a base and access to expert on-the-ground advice, a gateway to growth that they can harness to build success in Denver, Colorado state, and key Western states including California, as well as the US Mid West and Canada by means of the region’s excellent transport infrastructure and strong business links.”
The Minister said the centre would also enable smaller technology-led companies to exploit technology transfer opportunities arising from Colorado’s standing as home to the second highest concentration of research scientists and engineers.
Mr Pearson was speaking at a lunch for Northern Ireland and Denver business people, including Jim Lyons, the former special advisor to President Bill Clinton on Northern Ireland initiatives, who led a visit by a business delegation from Denver to Northern Ireland in March.
The Northern Ireland group included top executives of eight companies taking part in an Invest NI trade mission to the city.
