Belfast Named One Of Top 25 Cities To Attract Foreign Investment
Belfast has ranked above Auckland, Montreal, Cape Town and Cologne for attracting foreign direct investment.
The city was listed position 18 of the top 25 cities in the 'Strategy' section of fDi magazine's bi-annual 'Global Cities Of The Future' ranking, which looks at the success of individual cities and their governments in attracting foreign direct investment.
Earlier this year, Belfast was named Best Small European City for Business Friendliness by fDi, which is part of the Financial Times group.
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Brian Kingston, said: "This latest fDi ranking endorses what our investors already know – that Belfast is a great place to invest and do business.
"We have a highly skilled workforce, extremely competitive prime office rates and Belfast's tourism industry is thriving, with a very healthy creative and tech sector too. The planned introduction of a new lower corporation tax rate will no doubt prove attractive to investors also.
"Such a high ranking has been achieved by the hard work of all our partner agencies in creating an environment attractive for investors, and bodes well for our growing economy. By attracting foreign direct investment to the city, we are not only benefiting Belfast, but Northern Ireland as a whole."
