AGSI Accept Pay Proposal With 95% Majority
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) have voted to accept the Labour Court pay proposals by a majority of 95%.
It is understood that the AGSI ballot had a turnout of 71% and the result will stop any further strike action by garda officers.
Welcoming the result, Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald TD, said: "I welcome the decision by AGSI members to accept the independent recommendation of the Labour Court which sought to address the concerns that have been articulated in relation to their pay and conditions, the pay and conditions of new recruits, and their access to the statutory dispute resolution bodies.
"Nobody wanted to see industrial action and I believe today's decision is one which is in the best interests of An Garda Síochána and the community they serve so well.
"As I said yesterday my Department and I now look forward to working with all of the Garda representative associations towards progressing access to the statutory dispute resolution bodies and their engagement with the Public Service Pay Commission.
"I want to again express my thanks to all involved in the negotiations that resulted in this positive outcome."

Police Forces Support Improved Pay Offer
Members of Unite the union, working for police forces in England and Wales have backed an improved pay offer in a ballot, it has been announced. Civilian staff, including 999 call handlers, scene of crime officers, police community support officers and custody officers, accepted the revised pay offer of 2.2%, or £400, whichever is greater, by 92%.
