Digital Tourism Workshops Announced
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have announced a series of workshops to boost digital knowledge and skills in the tourism sector.
Announcing the workshops, the council said: "Tourism businesses increasingly need strong digital skills and knowledge to compete in the global marketplace. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council are hosting a range of workshops in early 2017 to introduce businesses in the tourism sector to a range of key digital skills."
Social media for tourism in 2017
This workshop will take place on 26 January 2017 at 18:00-16:00 at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh
The main topics will include:
• emerging trends in social media
• where to invest your efforts
• reaching & engaging your target audience on social media
• predictions on upcoming developments on the major social networks
• the 2016 trends which are still relevant in 2017
• the best of 2016: A look at social media wins in tourism
• how tourism businesses can capitalise on the latest trends
Content marketing for tourism
This event will take place on 2 February 2017 at 18:00-16:00 at the Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen
The workshop will cover:
• getting the right content mix
• harnessing topical and trending topics
• content promotion
• the latest developments and trends in content marketing, and predictions for 2017
• using content to effectively reach your target audience
• blogging – benefits, creating content, formats, best practise, inspiration, headlines and structure
• video – importance, case studies, tools and live video
Search engine optimisation (SEO) for tourism
This workshop will take place on 1 March 2017 at 18:00-16:00 at the Enniskillen Castle Museums, Enniskillen
The topics will include:
• understanding how the search engines work, and the main factors used in determining search engine rankings
• tips to optimise your current website for SEO
• the role of content in SEO
• how to identify issues on your website
• tools to help with your SEO
• rich Snippets: How to ensure Google shows the relevant information about your site in the search results
• "link building" for tourism
• the impact of social media on SEO
• the latest developments in search engine optimisation, and predictions for 2017

Some 120 international buyers will meet in Belfast next Spring for a prestigious conference that's set to boost the local tourism economy. HelmsBriscoe will hold its European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) Regional Meeting in the city next March, a conference that last year secured a total of 1.27 billion dollars in meetings revenue worldwide.

A speed networking event is set to bring together all four Causeway Coastal Route (CCR) clusters to introduce their respective tourism products. Businesses will have one to one exchanges, each lasting five minutes, in a bid to foster collaborative initiatives and help entrepreneurs identify more opportunities for tourism experiences.
