Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann To Stand Down

Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann is to stand down.

She confirmed she is to take up the a new post as the party's advisor to the Health Minister.

Ms McCann has been an MLA since 2007.

In a statement she said: "My party colleague and Health Minister Michelle O'Neill is currently involved in the biggest transformation of the health service in more than seven decades.

"That is a huge task and she requested additional support from the party to deliver this important transformation. The party agreed and I was honoured that I was asked to take up the role as a party advisor to the minister."

Two Men Injured In Separate Shooting Attacks
A man has been shot just outside west Belfast. The attack happened in the Glenkeen area of Poleglass at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, 01 June. The victim, aged in his 30s, was shot in the leg. He is currently being treated in hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann condemned the attack.

SF Cllr Receives Death Threats
A Sinn Féin councillor has received death threats in west Belfast. The threats made to Cllr Stephen Magennis were directly linked to his work as a public representative, keeping local residents informed and safe following a security alert in the area on Sunday. Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann condemned the threats.
