Lead Stolen From Orange Hall Roof In Belfast
A DUP MLA has condemned those responsible for stealing lead from the roof of an Orange Hall in Belfast.
The lead is believed to have been taken from Clifton Street Orange Hall between Tuesday and the early hours of Wednesday morning, 16 November.
North Belfast MLA William Humphrey said it follows on from a similar theft of lead from the Vine Centre on Crumlin Road recently.
Mr Humphrey said: "I am saddened and disappointed to learn of this theft. Clifton Street Orange Hall in Belfast is an iconic building and one which should be protected for generations to come. The Hall is a great place for many throughout the community, to come together and meet during many different activities that take place there. They too will be upset to learn of this incident.
"Recently myself and my colleague Nigel Dodds MP, worked with representatives from the Orange Order at Clifton Street Orange Hall to secure in the upwards of £138,000 for a new roof. The new roof has only been in place for a year.
"Investigations will now have to get place to establish the cost of damage and to seek a lead replacement product for the roof of the building."
