Five men wounded in paramilitary-style shootings
Paramilitary-style attacks at the weekend have left five men recovering in hospital from gunshot wounds.
An attack on four men at around 8pm on Sunday in the Highfield estate in west Belfast saw each of the four victims shot in the lower leg.
Elsewhere at about 10.30pm on Sunday in the Donegall Road area of south Belfast, in what is believed to be a separate incident, a man was also shot in the leg.

Three men shot in separate paramilitary style attacks
Three men have been shot overnight in paramilitary style attacks. In the predominantly loyalist area of Ballysillan a man was shot in the leg at Benview Drive, while in west Belfast a man in his late teens was shot in each ankle at the junction of Beechmount Crescent and Ballymurphy Street, Belfast. The incident happened at around 10.15pm.

Two Shot In Separate 'Punishment' Attacks
There have been further incidences of so-called paramilitary-style 'punishment' shootings. Following an unconnected attack on Monday night on a convicted sex offender in Londonderry, four men entered a house in the Creggan Heights area of the city at approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday. They shot their 26-year-old victim in both legs.

Three men hospitalised following shooting attacks
Three men are in hospital after paramilitary-style attacks in north Belfast on Sunday August 12. In the first attack two men aged 39 and 21 were treated for gunshot wounds to the leg after they were shot in the Parkmount area of Greencastle in the northern outskirts of the city. The incident took place around 10.40pm.

Four arrested in connection with 1974 murder
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a politician more than 30 years ago. Patrick Kelly, a nationalist member of Omagh District Council, was shot dead in July 1974 when he was on his way home after locking up a bar. The four men were arrested in their homes on Tuesday and are being questioned in Antrim.

A 14-year-old boy has been treated in hospital following a paramilitary style shooting. The boy was shot in the leg by a gang of men after being kidnapped in north Belfast at around 7.15pm on Friday night. He was missing for around four hours before being seen by a passer-by who was able to contact emergency services.
