Man Charged With Serious Terrorist Offences In Newry

A 34-year-old man is to appear in court charged with serious terrorist offences in Newry.

The PSNI detained the man in Belfast on Friday, 21 October.

He has been charged with with belonging to or professing to belong to a proscribed organisation, conspiracy to possess explosives with intent to endanger life, preparation of terrorist acts and receiving training or instruction in the making or use of weapons for terrorism.

The charges are on connection with a raid on a property in the Ardcard Park area in Newry in November 2014.

A total of 12 people ere arrested at the time.

MAN QUESTIONED ABOUT NELSON MURDER
A MAN has been arrested and is currently being held in custody in Armagh in connection with the murder of solicitor Rosemary Nelson in 1999. Rosemary Nelson, a Catholic mother-of-three, died in a car booby trap explosion near her home in Lurgan on March 15, 1999. Police have arrested a 32-year-old man, believed to be from County Armagh.

Three Men Arrested Over Dissident Terrorist Activity
Three men have been arrested in Lurgan over dissident terrorist activity. The men are aged 47, 42 and 41. Police are conducting searches on three houses in the area and a number of items have been taken for forensic examination.

Man Charged Over Banbridge Murder
A man charged with the murder of another man found dead in Banbridge is to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court today, 13 July. The body of 55-year-old Richard Gerard Scullion was found at a property in the Millmount Court area on Monday, 09 July. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
