Person Dies In Serious Road Collision On M2

Drivers are being urged to seek an alternative route following a fatal road traffic collision on the M2 motorway in Belfast, police have confirmed.

The M2 city bound and Sandyknowes roundabout have been closed. The southbound on-slip at Templepatrick has also been closed.

Police are urging motorists to expect long delays and to seek an alternative route.

The traffic disruption is expected to last several hours.

Motorists are also being urged to avoid the Glengormley area.

Drivers and passengers are being advised to remain in their vehicles and not to reverse on the motorway.

Inspector Rosie Leech has issued an update for motorists.

Road Closed Following Bangor Collision
Two cars have crashed on the A2 road between Bangor and Holywood. The collision occurred near the Devil's Elbow at Carney Hill and the road has been closed in both directions. Emergency services are at at the scene and one person has been taken to hospital. Police are surging motorists to seek an alternative route.

Car Crash Death Investigated
Hours after police investigating a fatal road collision over a week ago - near Bushmills - revisited the scene to appeal for witnesses, a man has been killed in another road accident, this time near Coalisland in Co Tyrone. No other vehicle was involved in the latest accident, which happened on the Farlough Road at about 4.15am on Monday.

Tanker explodes on motorway
A lorry tanker has exploded on the M2 motorway in Co Antrim this afternoon. Police have confirmed that the motorway is closed between Templepatrick and Antrim at the Rathbeg junction in both directions following the accident. One person is believed to have been injured after the lorry and trailer jacknifed.

Security Alert In Co Armagh
Police have confirmed a security operation is currently underway in south Armagh. The alert has closed Concession Road from Cullaville to the border, in the direction of Dundalk, Co Louth. In a statement, the PSNI said motorists in the area are advised to seek an alternative main route for the journey. No further details are available.

One Vehicle Collision Closes A36 Church Road
It is believed a person has been injured in a traffic collision on the A36 Church Road, the main Ballymena to Larne route, on Thursday night. The road has been closed in both directions and is limey to remai closed for some time. Police are advising motorists to take an alternative route.
