Two Men Arrested Over Attempted Car Hijackings In South Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with two attempted car hijackings in south Belfast.
Two men, one armed with a small knife, ordered a man out of his vehicle on University Street at around 7.40am on Wednesday, 19 October.
However, a member of the public shouted at the men who ran off in the direction of the Ormeau Road.
At around 8.15am, police were waved down by a member of the public near Stranmillis Embankment, who had just been forced from his vehicle by two males at knifepoint.
The PSNI intervened and arrested two men, aged 27 and 30, on suspicion of a number of offences including hijacking, attempted hijacking, robbery and driving whilst unfit.
Detective Sergeant Wilson said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed either of these incidents this morning, or who may have seen two males acting suspiciously in the University Street or Lower Ormeau Road area between 7am and 8.15am today to contact police at Musgrave station on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 204 of 19 October 2016."

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Investigation Launched Following Attempted Robbery In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after employees at a takeaway restaurant in Belfast were threatened with a hammer. The incident happened at premises on the Shankill Road shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, 07 March. A number of masked men armed with a hammer threatened staff and demanded them to open the till.

Young woman's arm broken in attempted robbery
A young shop assistant's arm has been broken during an attempted robbery in Carryduff. The incident occurred at around 11.00pm on Tuesday evening in the Spar on the Ballynahinch Road. The 18-year-old was serving behind the counter when she was approached by a masked man wielding an iron bar who demanded cash.
