ASTI Protest Over Pay Dispute
The Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland has announced that it will stage a protest today, Thursday, 13 October, outside Dáil Éireann to highlight recently qualified teachers are on inferior pay scales.
The union said that teachers who entered the profession from 2011 are affected by a significant pay differential.
In a statement the union said: "It is vital that the Government receives the message that teachers are committed to ending unequal pay for equal work in the teaching profession. Make sure your voice is heard."
Teachers working or living in the Dublin and Greater Dublin are being urged to attend the protest at Dáil Éireann today at 5pm.

Police Forces Support Improved Pay Offer
Members of Unite the union, working for police forces in England and Wales have backed an improved pay offer in a ballot, it has been announced. Civilian staff, including 999 call handlers, scene of crime officers, police community support officers and custody officers, accepted the revised pay offer of 2.2%, or £400, whichever is greater, by 92%.
