Co Antrim Security Alert Declared Elaborate Hoax

A security alert in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, has been declared an elaborate hoax.

Residents had to be evacuated from their homes after a suspicious object was discovered in the Devenish Drive area on Wednesday, 12 October.

Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out on the item, which was found to be an elaborate hoax.

Residents have since returned to their homes and the road has been re-opened.

Two suspicious objects found during a security alert in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, have been declared elaborate hoaxes according to police. The security alert began on Sunday afternoon in the Broadlands Gardens area of the town, when several homes were evacuated.

A security alert in Co L'Derry has been declared an elaborate hoax. A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes in the Carnhill area on Sunday, 19 November. Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene. Police declared the object an elaborate hoax and residents have since returned to their homes. The road has been re-opened.
