Arrivals Open At Belfast International Airport

Arrivals have opened at Belfast International airport after a freight plane got stuck on the runway.

Some flights have taken off, however inbound fights have been cancelled.

Several flights were cancelled on Tuesday morning, 04 October, due to the plane blocking the runway.

Significant delays are expected throughout the day.

Ryanair Slams Stansted Protest Security Failings
Ryanair - which has had to cancel 52 flights in and out of Stansted today - has called for an investigation into security after climate change activists broke into a secure area of the airport. The airports affected include services to Belfast City, Derry City, Dublin, Prestwick, Frankfurt, Oslo and Berlin.

Airport Extension 'Inquiry Decision' Welcomed
The Stormont Assembly has voted in favour of a full public inquiry into the controversal bid to extend the runway at Belfast's George Best City Airport. Although a victory for those campaigning against the proposed runway extension, the decision won't actualy make that much difference.

Stormont Urged To Debate City Airport Runway Plan
Conflicting views over the benefits of the proposed runway extension at Belfast City Airport are to reach the Assembly floor. The Green Party's Brian Wilson has tabled a motion at Stormont calling for a public inquiry into the development.

Thick Fog Affects Belfast Flights
A number of flights have been cancelled at George Best Belfast City Airport due to thick fog in England, Scotland and Wales. A number of flights have either been delayed or cancelled and passengers are being advised to check their flights before travelling to the airport. The Met Office has issued a weather warning until midday today, 02 November.
