Rory McIlroy Wins Title In Atlanta And Claims FedEx Cup

Ulsterman Rory McIlroy has won the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

The Holywood golfer secured victory in a play off to clinch the FedEx Cup title and won $10million (£7.7m), as well as $1.5m (£1.15m) in the tournaments.

Kevin Chappell, who was the joint leader with Dustin Johnson, hit a bogey on the 17th which allowed McIlroy and Ryan Moore back in.

McIlroy beat Moore on the fourth and went on to scoop both titles.

Rory McIlroy Wins Irish Open
NI man Rory McIlroy has won the Irish Open at The K Club. McIlroy, 27, scooped the first prize of £515,000 which he plans to donate to his charity the Rory Foundation. McIlroy and Russell Knox took the event to a climax as the Northern Irishman put a 253-yard approach to two feet on the last for victory.

McIlroy Wins The Open
County Down golfer Rory McIlroy has won the Open championship at Royal Liverpool. The win makes McIlroy, who was born in Holywood, the third golfer ever to win three major tournaments by the age of 25, after Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

Rory McIlroy Wins Deutsche Bank Championship
Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy has won the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston. It is the first PGA Tour title he has claimed in 16 months. He was six shots behind leader Paul Casey, however in the final round he won by a two-shot victory. After his win he also issued a statement following suggestions he spends too much time in the gym.

McIlroy Tries For Top Spot
Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy is close to the top spot: if he wins this weekend’s WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship he will become golf’s world number one. This news comes after the current world number one crashed out of the competition after being defeated by veteran Ernie Els.

Co Antrim Man Mark Allen Wins Masters Title
Co Antrim man Mark Allen has claimed a Masters title with a 10 - 7 victory over Kyren Wilson at Alexandra Palace, London. He is the third player from NI to scoop the title and the first since Denis Taylor over 30 years ago. The world number eight also pocketed the £200,000 prize money as well as the Paul Hunter trophy.
