Pedestrian Hit By Bus In Belfast

A pedestrian has been hit by a bus in Belfast city centre.

The collision happened on Royal Avenue just before 9am on Thursday morning, 22 September.

The road was closed however it has since been re-opened.

A spokesperson from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said the woman sustained a leg injury and has been taken to hospital.

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".

Taxis To Be Permitted To Use Bus Lanes
Taxis will be permitted to use bus lanes on the Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) routes from next Monday, 20 February. The 12-week trial basis will apply to the bus lanes on the East and West Belfast Rapid Transit routes and the 12 hour bus lanes in the city centre, which link the two routes.

Pedestrian hit by bus in city centre
The man struck by a bus in Belfast city centre on Thursday is said to be in a stable condition in hospital. The Metro bus, which had no passengers aboard, mounted a pavement at Donegall Square West at around 5.15pm before hitting the pedestrian. The man was later taken to hospital by ambulance were his condition is described as stable.

Translink is urging women to find out more about a career as a bus driver. The firm is encouraging females to take part in 'Have A Go Days' to increase the numbers of women applying. Translink is currently recruiting for Metro, Glider and Ulsterbus drivers.
