Concerns Raised Over Tower Block Proposals
The views of residents in the Markets area must be taken into account in relation to the proposed Stewart Street development, Sinn Féin Councillor Deirdre Hargey has said.
A proposal has been submitted to develop tower blocks near residential homes, which Councillor Hargey has said are "unsuitable for the area".
"The local community in the Market area have significant concerns over the proposed Stewart Street development," Councillor Hargey said.
"The sheer scale of this proposed development is unsuitable for the area and has alarmed local residents.
"It is simply not appropriate to build tower blocks at 10 and 14 storeys tall overlooking two-storey homes.
"I have been working with the local community on this issue and there is widespread opposition to this development.
"It is essential that the views of the local community in opposing this project are taken into account and listened to."
