Pedestrian Killed By Lorry In Omagh

The PSNI have issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Omagh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 24-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a Ford tipper lorry as he walked close to the Brookmount Road overpass at around 4.45am on Sunday, 18 September.

According to reports, the 28-year-old male driver of the lorry has been arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences.

Police have urged anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Omagh or the PSNI's collision investigation unit on 101.

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer expressed his condolences and said that any death of "one too many".

The West Tyrone MLA said: "The death of this young man who was hit by a lorry on the Great Northern Road in Omagh has shocked the local area. Any death on our roads is one too many.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this young man at this sad time."

Lorry Overturns In Co Tyrone
A lorry has crashed and overturned in Co Tyrone. It is understood the cement lorry crashed into a graveyard at St Mark's church. Police have said the Crossowen Road, between Augher and Clogher, is closed in both directions. The driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital for treatment. It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.

Couple Die In Omagh Crash
A couple, aged in their 70s, have died in a crash in Omagh. The collision, between a car and a lorry, happened on the Doogary Road just before 3pm on Monday, 03 September. The man and woman died at the scene of the crash. The lorry driver was not injured.

Man Dies In Co Antrim Road Crash
A man has died in a collision in Crumlin, Co Antrim. The crash, which involved a car and a lorry, happened on the Manse Road, at its junction with Nutts Corner, at around 10.50am on Monday, 10 April. The victim, aged in his 20s, was the driver of an Audi car. The lorry driver was not injured. The road has been reopened.
