Over 750,000 Cigarettes Seized In L'Derry
Over 750,000 cigarettes and 40 kilograms of hand rolling tobacco, worth an estimated £250,000 in lost duty and taxes, have been seized in Co L'Derry.
Officers from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) accompanied by the PSNI, searched a number of domestic premises, outbuildings and vehicles in the south Derry area on Wednesday, 14 September, where the suspected illicit tobacco products were found.
Approximately £37,000 in cash, two cars, one van and two horse boxes were also seized during the operation.
Three men were arrested and ave been released on bail.
Investigations are ongoing.

No Smoke Without 'Fine': Tobacco Ban On Under 18s
It is now illegal in Northern Ireland to sell tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18. The change in the law came into effect today as part of the drive by NI Health Minister Michael McGimpsey to reduce the level of smoking in young people.

Tobacco advertising to be banned says De Brún
Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Bairbre de Brún, has reaffirmed her commitment to ban tobacco advertising and promotion. Responding to an Assembly Question the Minister said she was determined that the advertisement and promotion of tobacco products should be banned without delay.

Cigarettes, Tobacco And Cash Seized
Police and customs officers have seized more than 13,000 cigarettes and five kilos of hand-rolling tobacco. The seizures were made during the course of a major search operation of 11 properties in north and west Belfast. Officers also seized £6,000 in cash under the proceeds of the crime act.
