Two People Arrested Over Alleged USPCA Fraud

Two people have been arrested by police investigating allegations of fraud at an animal charity.

A 53-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were arrested in the Newry area this morning, 14 September, following a complaint made to the PSNI over potential fraud within the USPCA.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Wilson, from PSNI Economic Crime Unit, said: "A complaint was made to police in April and, as a result of our enquiries, two people were arrested this morning.

"They are being questioned at Banbridge police station."

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Warning Issued Over Bogus Charity Fundraising Calls
The PSNI have issued a warning over a "very convincing" bogus calls, claiming to be calling from a government department. Police said that they have received a number of reports of the phone scam, which they said had the "singular aim" of gaining access to people's money.

Five to appear in court in connecton with Bangor robbery
Five youths are to appear in Downpatrick Magistrates Court today charged in connection with the robbery of an off-licence in Bangor on Tuesday night. Two youths, who entered the premises on the Rathgael Road, assaulted two female members of staff before making off with a sum of money and alcohol.
