Stage set for weekend of racing
The stage is set for this weekend's Northern Ireland Festival of Racing at Down Royal Racecourse in Lisburn which is expected to attract over 10,000 spectators.
This year's event, which takes place on Friday and Saturday, will showcase the best of Irish racing with top trainers, Willie and Tony Mullins, Dessie Hughes, Michael O'Brien, Christy Roche and Noel Meade all making entries.
Entries for the first day of the Ulster Festival attracted 200 horses, with British trainers Jonjo O'Neill and Nicky Richards adding to the prestige of the province's showcase event by entering Feel The Pride and Bob The Pillar.
Irish racing star, Beef or Salmon, owned locally by Joe Craig and Dan McLarnon, is an entry in the Festival feature race with British trainers Ferdy Murphy represented by Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up, Trucker's Tavern.
Somerset trainer, Paul Nicolls, meanwhile, has Sleeping Night and Valley Henry entered in the big Grade 1 chase which, along with the Stabley Freephone Hurdle and the Grade 3 Killultagh Properties Chase, provides a trio of top races on Super Saturday's Card.
