Accountancy Firm To Create Over 40 New Jobs In Belfast

An accountancy firm has announced it is to create over 40 new jobs in Belfast over the next three years.

BDO Northern Ireland said the new posts will provide professional services to a range of blue chip and FTSE 500 clients within the BDO International network.

First Minister Arlene Foster welcomed the announcement.

She said: "This is a promising new venture for BDO Northern Ireland which operates as part of an international accountancy and business advisory network.

"These 43 new jobs will generate over £1million annually in additional salaries and bring BDO Northern Ireland's employment levels to over 200 people by 2018.

"I congratulate BDO for this expansion and commend Invest NI who worked hard to secure this investment by offering the company over £217,000 in employment grant and training support."

The deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness said: "BDO's decision to establish this new business line and create 43 new jobs is a positive development for the local economy.

"BDO require a skilled and educated workforce and this expansion in Belfast is testament to existing BDO staff and the wider labour market. In addition to salaries of over £27,000, the new jobs will provide employment and training opportunities for people at various stages of their career.

"I congratulate BDO and assure them the Executive will continue to make every effort to create a 'pro-business' environment enabling companies to grow and create jobs."

Invest NI has offered BDO £217,935 to support the recruitment of 36 of the 43 new jobs, as well as the company's training activities.
