Security Alert In North Belfast Declared A 'Hoax'

A security alert in north Belfast has been declared a hoax.

Residents were evacuated from their homes after a suspicious object was discovered in the Mount Vernon area at around 8pm on Tuesday, 13 September.

Police and army bomb experts attended the scene which was later declared a hoax.

Residents have since returned to their homes and police said they are following a "definite line of enquiry."

Maghaberry bomb alert a hoax
Police have declared a bomb alert in a Co Antrim village as a hoax. A suspicious device was found in a car parked at a pub in the village of Maghaberry early this morning. Several families had to be evacuated from their homes during the alert which was later declared a hoax after army bomb experts examined the device.

Two suspicious objects found during a security alert in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, have been declared elaborate hoaxes according to police. The security alert began on Sunday afternoon in the Broadlands Gardens area of the town, when several homes were evacuated.

Portadown Suspicious Object Declared A Hoax
A suspicious object at the centre of a Portadown security alert has been declared a hoax. Shortly after 8.45pm on Tuesday, 30 July, police received a report of a suspicious object in the Upper Church Lane area. Emergency service responded and sealed the area, evacuating local residents and closing a number of roads.
