Man Seriously Ill Following 'Violent Incident' In Belfast

A man is seriously ill in hospital following a violent incident in Belfast city centre.

Police were called to Great Victoria Street just before 5am this morning, 08 September, following reports a man had become violent.

The man's injuries were sustained during the incident.

The road remains closed between the Europa Hotel and the Grand Opera House.

Police have launched an investigation.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Co Fermanagh. A 42-year-old man died in the crash which happened on the Belfast Road in Brookeborough at around 8.35am on Friday, 08 June. The man was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. Man Dies Following 'Violent Incident' In Belfast
A man who died after police used CS Spray to restrain him following a "violent incident" in Belfast has been named locally as Gerard McMahon. The incident happened on Great Victoria Street in Belfast at around 5am on Thursday, 08 September. It is understood he was involved in an altercation with taxi drivers in the area.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Man Arrested After Shots Fired In North Belfast
Police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in north Belfast. It is understood that the 22-year-old man was arrested following reports of shots being fired on Oceanic Avenue at about 21:50 on Thursday. Police say that a parked car was damaged in the incident.
