Matt Towe To Return To Belfast Giants On Short Term Contract

Matt Towe is to return the Belfast Giants on a short term deal.

Towe has signed a contract to join the team for the month of September.

Towe, who now resides in Belfast, played in all four of the Giants exhibition games and will take to the ice in the Giants first game of the season against the Fife Flyers in Scotland on Saturday.

The English Forward, 28, iced for the Giants during the 2012/13 season and posted six goals and 10 assists, good for 16 points in 57 games played.

Since leaving the Giants, Towe scored 18 goals and 18 assists in the 2013/14 season for the Braehead Clan before spending the next two seasons with the EPL’s Guildford Flames where Towe posted 28 goals and 88 assists in 109 games played, over one point per game.

Head Coach Derrick Walser on the short-term signing of Matt Towe: "I am delighted to agree terms with Matt, he has impressed throughout pre-season and deserves this short-term deal which has the possibility of being extended. From what the fans tell me, I know Matt was a popular player during his previous season with the Giants and I hope he can continue to impress over the coming weeks."
