Teenage Boy Dies Following Motorbike Crash

A teenage boy has died in a motorbike collision in Co L'Derry.

The crash occurred in the Magilligan area at around 1.20pm on Thursday, 25 August.

The 13-year-old boy was airlifted by the Irish Coastguard in Sligo.

He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital but later died.

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald said: "The community is in shock following the tragic death of a 13 year-old boy.

"My thoughts are with his family and friends of this at this difficult and sad time."

Police Appeal After Boy Hit By Car In Co Down
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a five-year-old boy was hit by a car in Co Down. The crash happened in the Malcolmson Park area in Magheralin just after 4.45pm on Thursday, 12 January. He is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Driver Sentenced For Death Of 12-Year-Old
A disqualified driver has been given an eight-year prison sentence after killing a 12-year-old boy through driving dangerously. Daniel Mooney was killed when 33-year-old Andrew Morrow gave him a lift on the back of a scrambler motorbike and the boy fell off. The judge presiding the case said Mr Morrow was a "significant risk" to the public.

Man Dies Following Crash In Magherafelt
A man in his 40s has died following a road traffic crash in Magherafelt on Tuesday. A tractor and a motorbike were involved in the collision which happened on the Aughrim Road just after 8.30pm. The man, who was driving the motorbike, was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

14-Year-Old Boy Among Those Arrested For Drink Driving
Over 300 drink drivers were detected by the PSNI over the festive period last year, with a 14-year-old boy among them. The figure of 322 was down by more than 10% on the previous year, with the oldest person being 83 years old.

Police Helicopter Finds Boys Lost On Black Mountain
A police helicopter has rescued two twelve-year-old boys from Black Mountain in west Belfast Police responded to a call at around 15:15 on Saturday, finding to the boys within thirty minutes. One of the rescue crew helped the pair to safety. Neither boy suffered any injuries and they were returned home by a police patrol.
