Grants Available To Change 'Offensive' Murals In Belfast
A total of £25,000 in grants has been made available for community groups who want to change murals which may been seen as "offensive" in Belfast.
Belfast City Council said the money will be for groups seeking to remove, replace or transform an existing mural that is perceived as aggressive in content.
This includes murals which contain paramilitary imagery, perceived threatening slogans, weaponry or organisation initials.
The initiative is part of the Council's support for the Northern Ireland Executive's 'Together: Building a United Community' (T:BUC) Strategy, published in May 2013.

Nine Murals To Be Removed In East Belfast
Nine paramilitary murals are being removed and redesigned in a major reimaging project in east Belfast. Charter NI secured £30,000 funding from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive's Community Cohesion budget to oversee the project in the Lord Street area.

A new initiative has been established to help more than 80 Belfast businesses to share and sell their products to thousands of virtual shoppers. The 'Buy Belfast' Virtual Christmas Market was launched as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week and is open for business until Monday 20 December.

Sectarian Graffiti Daubed On Murals In L'Derry
Sectarian graffiti has been daubed on murals in the Bonds Street and Duddy’s Court areas of L'Derry. The words 'IRA' and 'IRA GHOST' were scrawled over murals and house doors overnight sometime between 29 – 30 July. The murals commemorate the breaking of the 1689 Siege of Derry by the English army sailing down Lough Foyle.
