Investigation Launched Following Aggravated Burglary In Co Antrim

Police have launched an investigation following an aggravated burglary in Larne, Co Antrim.

The incident happened at a house in the Greenland Parade area on Sunday night, 14 August.

A gang of masked men, armed with a bat and a bar, broke into the property and attacked a man inside the house.

The victim sustained minor injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.

The front windows of house were also smashed.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
