Blaze At Sion Mills Being Treated As Arson
A fire at a derelict building in Sion Mills near Strabane is being treated as arson.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) attended the scene at the empty Herdman's Mill just after 9pm on Sunday, 14 August.
Firefighters from Strabane, L'Derry, Castlederg and Newtownstewart put out the blaze.
The building was "significantly damaged", according to the NIFRS.

The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

NI's Chief Fire Officer Announces His Retirement
The Chief Fire Officer for Northern Ireland, Peter Craig, has announced that he is to retire after over 35 years of distinguished Service. Peter Craig is one of the longest serving officers in Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and was appointed as Chief Fire Officer in February 2011, having been the acting Chief from July 2010.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has announced a new policy to address the growing challenge of false alarms and reducing unnecessary call-outs. The new False Alarm Policy will come into effect from 01 February, 2024, and is in response to the increase in false alarms which the NIFRS has said has "reached an unsustainable level".

Device Found During Security Alert Was A Pipe Bomb - PSNI
A suspicious object found during in a security alert in Co Tyrone was a pipe bomb, according to the police. Residents were evacuated from their homes after a device was discovered in the Sion Mills area in Strabane on Wednesday, 22 February. Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene and the device was sent for forensic examination.
