Treasury Called To Release Funds To Boost Local Economy
The Finance Minister is Northern Ireland has called on the Treasury to release funds to boost the local economy including capital investment in our infrastructure.
Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir was speaking after a meeting with Quarry Products Association, which took place at the Craigantlet Quarry, as he continues exploring ways in which the Executive could create a local stimulus package.
He said: "The Executive's allocation of capital funding for key infrastructure projects identified in the Fresh Start Agreement will go some way towards providing this however, in the wake of the EU referendum it is incumbent on the British government to release the necessary funds to stimulate the economy, boost the construction sector, and support local employment.
"I spoke to the Chancellor recently and urged him to bring forward measures to address the difficulties caused by the referendum result."

Order For 600 'Boris Buses' Welcomed
North Antrim MP Ian Paisley has hailed the approval by Transport for London’s Board for the purchase of 600 new buses as a major boost for Northern Ireland. The buses which be delivered into passenger service by the end of April 2016 will be built by Ballymena company Wrightbus.

SMEs to gain from £400m tax boost
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are set to receive a £400 million boost today, Paymaster General Dawn Primarolo has announced. The increases, which double the amount of investment eligible for 40% first-year capital allowances, will provide a cash flow increase for smaller businesses of almost £400 million over the next three years.
