LRA Announce Programme Of Events Focusing On Workplace Issues
The Labour Relations Agency (LRA) has announced a programme of events focusing on the many issues impacting on the workplace amongst employers and employees.
The programme will be held between September to December this year, led by experienced Advisory Officers.
The events are aimed to assist in dealing with the many employment issues that impact on the workplace, including becoming an employer, getting started as an employer, managing people, developing good practice at work and resolving conflict.
The free events, which are a mixture of briefings, seminars and workshops, also raise awareness of relevant legislation and promote and develop good practice.
A range of events are planned during the programme and will take place at the LRA's offices in Belfast and Londonderry over the coming months including:
• Annual review of employment law
• Conducting employment investigations
• Fair recruitment and selection
• Resolving workplace disputes
• Handling discipline and grievance
• Legal implications of workplace stress
• Managing performance
• Managing sickness absence
• Social media and the employment relationship

Bank of England holds UK interest rate at 4%
The Bank of England has held the main UK interest rate at 4% for the twelfth consecutive month. This is despite a larger than anticipated cut by the US Federal Reserve. Leading economists were split on whether or not interest rates would or should be dropped.
