Health and business links to be explored in NI conference

The Northern Ireland branch of the British Psychological Society are inviting human resource professionals and researchers to learn exactly how health and safety issues impact on the workplace.

The branch have organised a two-day conference 'Work Health and Psychology' on Thursday November 6 and Friday November 7 at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast.

Conference organiser Anne Kerr said: "The conference will be of interest to anyone or working in or researching the areas of work psychology and health psychology, as well as those involved in human resources. With such eminent psychologists appearing at the event it will undoubtedly make for an interesting two days."

The conference will feature presentations by keynote speakers Professor Charles Abraham of University of Sussex; Professor Tony Cassidy of Thames Valley University; Professor Marie Johnston of the University of St Andrews; Professor Theresa Marteau of Kings College London; and Professor Helen Muir of Cranfield University.

Among the topics to be discussed at the event will be:
  • The value of health psychology
  • Work and well-being
  • Bullying in the workplace
  • Passenger safety in air travel
  • Changes within the police force of Northern Ireland
