Power Restored To Thousands Of Customers In Co Antrim

Power has been restored to several thousand Northern Ireland Electricity customers in Co Antrim.

An equipment fault on a high voltage transmission line caused the outage at around 9.40pm on Wednesday, 20 July, according to NIE Networks.

However, power was restored by 10.14pm.

The energy firm issued an apology to its customers and an investigation has been launched.

Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) confirmed its crews have been continuously working to get the network back up and running for customers. Power Restored To Thousands Of NI Households
NIE Networks has confirmed that electricity has been restored to around 53,000 customers after Storm Ophelia. Employees have been carrying out repair work throughout the night since Monday, 16 October. Approximately 270 homes and businesses still remain without power in the South Eastern areas.

Thousands Affected By Power Cut
A widespread power cut left around 45,000 customers across Northern Ireland without electricity for a short time on Monday afternoon. Homes in east Belfast, Holywood, Comber, Dunmurry and the Ards Peninsula were affected, however most homes had power restored within 15 minutes.
