Teenage girl dies in road accident

A teenage girl has died following a road accident in west Belfast today.

The 12-year-old girl, who has not yet been named, was taken to hospital after being involved in an accident with a 19-year-old motorcyclist on the Stewartstown Road.

The girl died a short time later. The state of the male motorcyclist is not yet known.

The road remained closed this afternoon as emergency services attended the scene.

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

Alliance Calls For Action On Road Deaths
The Alliance Party has urged road users to "heed calls to curb dangerous driving as road deaths increase in Northern Ireland. There have been 58 deaths on the roads so far this year, compared to 55 fatalities for the entire year in 2022.
