First Minister Appointed To Privy Council

First Minister Arlene Foster has been appointed to the Privy Council following the Queen's approval.

Mrs Foster is one of four new appointees to the body of advisors to the Queen.

MSP Ruth Davidson, MP David Gauke and MP Ed Vaizey were also appointed.

DUP Deputy Leader Rt Hon Nigel Dodds MP said: "I warmly congratulate Arlene on being appointed by Her Majesty the Queen to the Privy Council.  The appointment is a testament to the fact that Arlene, as our First Minister and Party Leader, is held in high esteem not only in Northern Ireland but throughout the United Kingdom.

"Arlene Foster is recognised as the undisputed leader of unionism in Northern Ireland following the Assembly election in May and today's elevation again highlights the fact she is recognised throughout the United Kingdom as the leader of our Province."

Debt Tackled Through Assembly Bill
NI people who are in serious debt are to be offered a 'way-out'. The Stormont Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has introduced a Bill in the Assembly which will pave the way for a Debt Relief Scheme in Northern Ireland. The scheme will help people burdened by debt which they have no realistic prospect of being able to repay.

DUP Leader Arlene Foster has attended a LGBT event at Stormont. Ms Foster, who is the first DUP leader to attend an LGBT event, gave a speech at PinkNews' summer reception on Thursday, 28 June. The DUP has been criticised by LGBT activists for its stance against same sex marriage in Northern Ireland.

Former US President To Meet Party Leaders In NI
Former US President Bill Clinton is on Northern Ireland is believed to be meeting with DUP leader Arlene Foster. He is expected to make an announcement about a new educational initiative in Co Fermanagh. Mr Clinton was due to arrive in NI on Monday, 16 October, however it was postponed due to Storm Ophelia.

McGuinness Awarded British Title
Martin McGuinness has been awarded a British aristocratic title following his resignation as a Westminster MP. The deputy First Minister and former IRA member was awarded the title of Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead according to British parliamentary protocol.

Up To Three Households Allowed To Mix Over Christmas
Up to three households could be allowed to mix over the Christmas period, under a set of temporary arrangements to be agreed by the Executive. First Minister Arlene Foster and deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill have signalled temporary arrangements that will be put in place between 23 and 27 December.
