Ministers Call For 'Peaceful And Safe' Parading Season
The First Minister, deputy First Minister and the Justice Minister have called for a peaceful and safe parading season.
Arlene Foster, Martin McGuinness and Claire Sugden are urging everyone to "conduct themselves in a dignified and lawful way".
The Ministers said: "The celebration of different memories, cultures and traditions in a respectful, dignified and peaceful manner has the potential to enrich our society. Equally, some may wish to protest and it is essential this is done in a way that is peaceful and does not undermine law and order.
"As we move into a period which has in the past resulted in heightened tensions, we encourage everyone to conduct themselves in a dignified and lawful way.
"We all have a responsibility to show leadership and to continue to seek resolutions to contentious issues through discussion and ensure any difficulties are identified and resolved peacefully thus showing respect for the views and wishes of everyone in the community.
"We want to build a future that is respectful, inclusive and vibrant. Dialogue and engagement are key to ensuring mutual understanding and co-operation, and we welcome the ongoing commitment of all involved to maintaining a peaceful and safe society."

Parade Organisers Urged To Make Peaceful Intentions Clear
The organisers of the upcoming loyalist parade in Belfast this Saturday have been urged to make it clear they want a peaceful and dignified demonstration. A parade is being held in the city centre to mark one year since the council backed a motion to flag the union flag on designated days, being NI inline with the rest of the UK.

Police Federation claim policing is in “deep crisis”
The Chairman of the Police Federation has said he believes policing in Northern Ireland is in “deep crisis”. Chairman Jimmy Spratt said that experienced police officers who had left the force as part of Chris Patten’s policing reforms have now returned to work in it as civilians.

Thousands gather for peaceful Twelfth parades
The police have commended all communities for taking part in peaceful twelfth parades and are very pleased that no major incidents occurred. Tens of thousands of Orangemen attended the parades across Northern Ireland yesterday and all of the marches passed off peacefully.

Health Minister, Angela Smith has officially opened a new Children’s Transitional Care Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital. The unit has been developed to accommodate a small number of individual children with very high nursing and technological needs.
