Two Men Charged After Crossbow And Hammers Seized In Co Antrim

Two men have been charged after police seized a crossbow and a number of other items in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim.

Police received reports that a large crowd of men, some of which were wearing masks, had gathered in the Castlemara estate on Friday, 01 July.

Officers attended the scene and seized a crossbow and hammers.

A 46-year-old man was charged with riotous behaviour and a 36-year-old man was charged with placing a dangerous object on a road.

They are due to appear in court on Thursday, 28 July.

The charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

USPCA calls on Assembly to consider crossbow regulation
The USPCA has called on the Assembly to take action on the issue of crossbows following what the animal welfare organisation described as an "appalling" attack on a horse. The Clydesdale horse was found with a metal bolt lodged in its jaw, having been grazing on the Creggan estate when it was attacked.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Crossbow Attack
A man has been charged with attempted murder following a crossbow attack in south Belfast on Wednesday evening. A 29-year-old man was shot with a crossbow while he was in a parked car in the Belgravia Avenue area. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A woman was also in the car at the time of the attack but was not injured.

Man Charged With Crossbow Attack
A 32-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in relation to a crossbow attack at a Belfast nightclub. A bolt was fired from the weapon outside Rain, on Tomb Street, shortly after 11pm on Wednesday 11 January. No one was injured in the incident, but damage was caused to a window of the building.
