Euro 2016: Northern Ireland Team To Come Home

Northern Ireland supporters are to welcome the team back home after they were defeated by Wales in Euro 2016.

The team reached the last 16 but lost 1-0 to Wales in Paris on Saturday, 25 June.

An own goal from Gareth McAuley secured Wales a place in the final eight.

The NI team will be at the Belsonic Fanzone site at the Titanic Quarter later on today, 27 June.

Manager Michael O'Neill and the players will be on stage at the site which is expected to finish at approximately 8.30pm.

Sports Minister Paul Givan said: "Michael O'Neill and the team have made the whole country proud and it has been fantastic to see the green and white army getting behind their team, both in France and back home."

The most successful Irish Paralympian team in history touched down to be met by crowds yesterday after winning 16 medals - half of which were gold - at London 2012. The team included six competitors from Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Team Arrive Back To Heroes Welcome
The Northern Ireland team arrived back home to a heroes welcome on Monday night, 27 June. Thousands of supporters attended the Fanzone at Titanic Quarter to welcome them home from Euro 2016. Manager Michael O'Neill and the players all lined up on the stage to resounding cheers.

First Minister Discharged From Hospital
The First Minister has took to Twitter to say he has been discharged from hospital following a suspected heart attack. Mr Peter Robinson tweeted: "Happy to be discharged and back home. Michael O'Neill Turns Down Scotland Job
Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has turned down a chance to take charge of the Scotland team. He held discussions with the Scottish Football Association about taking over from Gordon Strachan, however he announced on Monday, 22 January, that he would remain in his current post.
