Euro 2016: Republic Of Ireland Beat Italy 1-0

The Republic of Ireland are in the last 16 of Euro 2016 after beating Italy 1-0 on Wednesday night, 22 June.

Robbie Brady scored the winning goal for the team in the 84th minute.

Manager Martin O'Neill punched the air as soon as the goal was scored.

Ireland will now play France in Lyon at 2pm on Sunday, 26 June.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill said: "The results tonight put us in what is arguably the more favourable side of the draw, so we are pleased about that.

"We are in no doubt that it is going to be a tough game against Wales but we will go into the match believing that we can win and that we can progress."

UEFA Women's U19 Championship: NI Defeated By Spain
Northern Ireland were defeated 2-0 to Spain as the Europe Under-19 women's Championship started at Windsor Park in Belfast on Tuesday, 08 August. Lucia Garcia scored a goal followed by Spanaish captain Patricia Guijarro. A total of 4,289 spectators attended the match, according to the Irish Football Association.

David Healy joint top goal scorer
Northern Ireland football hero David Healy is at the top of the UEFA Euro 2008 goal scorer’s table. The Leeds United striker is tied with Germany’s Lukas Podolski, following his second hat-trick of the tournament against Liechtenstein on Saturday. He also scored three goals against Latvia in October.

Northern Ireland's long unbeaten home run has ended at Windsor Park after being defeated by Croatia 3-0. Juventus striker Mario Mandžukić scored the first goal nine minutes into the game and Duje Čop secured the second goal on the 35th minute of the friendly game. Andrej Kramarić also scored with a 25-yard shot into the top corner.

Germany Beats Northern Ireland In 2018 World Cup Qualifier
Northern Ireland footballer Lee Hodson has praised his team-mates after they were defeated 2-0 by Germany in their 2018 World Cup Group C qualifier. Julian Draxler scored the first goal in the 13th minute and Sami Khedira scored four minutes later.

Record Northern Irish international goal scorer David Healy has said that he wants "more goals" to up the target for future players. The Preston North End striker scored two goals in a 3-0 friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago to take his tally for Northern Ireland to 14.
