Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Newry Magistrates' Court.
Peter Crawford claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £7,279 while failing to declare capital. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay an offenders levy of £15.
Mr Crawford has repaid the money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Broughshane Named Ireland's Best Kept Town
Broughshane in Co Antrim has scooped the top spot in Ireland's Best Kept Town competition.
The town was named the overall winner of the competition and also won the Best Kept Small Town category.
The results were announced at an awards ceremony in Riddel Hall, Belfast.
Terryglass in Co Tipperary won the Best Kept Village category, Armagh Town won the Best Kept Large Town category and Ballincollig in Co Cork won the Best Kept Large Urban Centre category.
Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, said: "Being nominated for these awards represents an achievement in itself, and is reward for your efforts in the SuperValu TidyTowns and the Best Kept competitions.
"After 21 years, this all-Ireland competition continues to be a strong recognition of the great pride people have in their own communities, and how local volunteers take ownership of their surroundings and work to improve them, both for now and into the future."
Farmer Convicted Of Causing Unnecessary Suffering To Cattle
A farmer from Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh has been convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to cattle and failure to dispose of animal carcases.
Patrick Gerard Donnelly pleaded guilty and received two months imprisonment on each charge, to run concurrently, plus £28 costs.

Bangor named Ireland's 'Best Kept Town'
Bangor has been named as Ireland's best kept town following an awards ceremony in Belfast. Commenting on the achievement, Stephen Peover, Permanent Secretary of DOE, congratulated Bangor and North Down Borough Council on the news. "I would urge more communities to take part in the competition," Mr Peover said.

Third successive 'litter-free' award for Enniskillen
Enniskillen has been recognised as among the top three litter-free towns in Ireland during the recent 'All-Ireland Anti-Litter League' competition. In the survey organised by Irish Business Against Litter, the County Fermanagh town achieved a score of 81 points, enough to win the designation of 'litter-free'.

Derry and Antrim areas awarded 'Best Kept'
Derry has won its second award in as many years at Ireland’s Best Kept Awards at a ceremony in Dublin. In 2006, Councillor Helen Quigley, Mayor of Derry accepted the award for winning the Large Town Category and one year later they have scooped the top award in the Large Urban Centre Category.
