NI Executive And Irish Govt To Review Narrow Water Bridge Project

The NI Executive and the Irish Government have agreed to undertake a review of the Narrow Water Bridge project, the Finance Minister has confirmed.

Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir visited the site and met with local representatives to discuss the project.

He said: "I am aware of the strong support for the project in the local area and I am a strong advocate of bridge-building, both physical and metaphorical, between our peoples and I am inspired by the commitment of communities on both sides of the border to deliver the Narrow Water Bridge project.

"I was pleased to meet with supporters of the bridge project and with the Narrow Water Bridge Community Network, Co Louth TD Gerry Adams and South Down MLA Caitríona Ruane to discuss the economic merits of this project."

Ms Ruane said: "The Narrow Water Bridge project is hugely important for the economy of the South Down area.

"I am delighted the minister visited the area to discuss the project with the Narrow Water Bridge Community Network alongside Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams and myself.

"They made a presentation to the minister about the importance of the project to the South Down and North Louth areas."
