North Coast Beach Damaged After Youths Set Fire To Sand Hills

A North Coast beach has been damaged after youths set fire to the sand hills, according to the PSNI.

Police also issued a warning to parents to know where their children are after a significant amount of damage was caused to the Castlerock beach in Limavady.

Empty bottles of alcohol were also discovered in the area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police would urge parents and guardians to make sure they know where there children are, what they are doing and to talk to them about the danger of getting caught up in this type of activity and the possible outcomes they could face if they are found committing any offence.

"Young people should also know the consequences of their actions when they get involved in this type of behaviour. What might seem like fooling about can often result in a criminal record which can affect travel, education and employment opportunities in the future."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
