260 New Jobs Announced In Galway And Sligo
A total of 260 new jobs have been announced for Galway and Sligo.
In Galway, Wayfair Inc has announced an expansion of its multi-lingual European Operations Centre, with the creation of 160 new jobs.
Wayfair will open a new 30,000 square foot facility on Tuam Road to replace its prior facility in Mervue Business Park.
Wayfair vice president of sales and service, Liz Graham, said: "A key pillar of Wayfair's continued success is our promise to customers to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
"As European consumers become increasingly aware of Wayfair's exceptional ecommerce experience for home furnishings, we are seeing tremendous business growth in the region.
"The expansion of our operations in Galway will enable us to support the company's strong growth in Europe and ensure that we continue to deliver a world-class shopping experience as we redefine the way people shop for their homes."
And in Sligo a total of 100 new jobs are to be created by the end of 2017 by specialist technical and engineering firm, LotusWorks.
The company will hire 50 new engineers and technicians over the next six months, with an additional 50 roles created by the end of 2017.
Welcoming the announcement Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O'Connor said: "I am very much focussed on ensuring jobs are created right across the country and that is why I will be continuing to implement our Regional jobs plan. It is important to continue to ensure that Irish enterprise continues to grow alongside the strong multinational sector which we have built up.
"I am delighted that LotusWorks, a highly-innovative Irish company which is expanding rapidly in export markets, is creating 50 new jobs. The growth of such a company based in Sligo is great news for the North-West region. LotusWorks is a great example of the type of company Enterprise Ireland is working with, and I wish them and their team every success for the future."
