Investigation Launched Into 'Paramilitary-Style Shooting' In L'Derry

An investigation has been launched into a "paramilitary-style shooting" in the Ballymagroarty area of L'Derry in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 30-year-old man was shot in the ankles at around 03:30 on Sunday 15 May. Police have said that they believe paramilitaries are to blame for the shooting.

The shooting is the fourth such incident in four days.

Police have called for anyone with information to contact the Strand Road police station on the non-emergency number 101. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The PSNI have launched an investigation after a man was shot in both legs on Sunday. It is understood that a 24-year-old was in a "paramilitary style shooting" in Flax Street, north Belfast. He is being treated in hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Injured In Paramilitary Style Shooting In L'Derry
A 40-year-old man has been injured in a paramilitary style attack in Co L'Derry. The incident happened at Culdaff Gardens at around 10.35pm on Monday, 29 August. The victim was shot in both ankles, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Four masked men are believed to have been involved in the shooting.

Man Arrested In Bangor Shooting Investigation
A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of two men in Bangor. The male victims, aged 24 and 33, were shot as they sat in a car in the Eastway area of the Whitehill estate at about 00:45 on 10 February. UTV has reported that the UVF are thought to have been behind the attack.
