Irish Language Activists Protest Outside BBC's Broadcasting House
Approximately 40 Irish language activists gathered to take part in a protest outside the BBC's Broadcasting House in Belfast on Monday, 09 May.
The protest was called after a young Irish speaker tried to raise questions about the language in two debates on the BBC, however he was shut down on both occasions.
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile said: "Many Irish speakers felt this was an indication of a wider attitude towards Irish from the BBC, which as a public service broadcaster should be representative of the entire community.
"Despite attempts to silence this young Gael, the protest showed that the Irish language community will make its voice heard and demand equality."
