Man Shot Dead In West Belfast
A man has been shot dead in west Belfast.
It is the third shooting incident in the city in less than 24 hours.
Daniel Murray, a delivery driver aged in his 50s, was killed in his car on Lady Street on Monday night.
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey condemned the attack
He said: "There can be no place in our society for such actions. Those behind this incident have nothing to offer the community and need to stop these futile actions immediately.
"I would appeal for anyone with information on this shooting to bring it forward to the PSNI."
First Minister, Arlene Foster and the deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness said: "The shootings in Belfast yesterday were barbaric and wrong. We unreservedly condemn the actions of the perpetrators who care only for themselves.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families and in particular the family of Daniel Murray who was shot dead."
Elsewhere, in north Belfast, a 17-year-old male was injured after he was shot in the leg earlier on Monday.
A third man, in his 20s, is also in a stable condition in hospital after he was shot a number of times in an alleyway between Sheridan Street and Donore Court in the early hours of Monday morning.
SDLP MLA Nichola Mallon said: "Over recent months in north Belfast people have been murdered and maimed by the actions of faceless self appointed judges, jurors and executioners. These barbaric kangaroo courts of the past cannot be allowed to become a feature of our present.
"As a community we must stand together and against violence. I would urge anyone with any information about these shootings to contact the police so those responsible can be taken off our streets."
Alliance Justice spokesperson Stewart Dickson said: "I totally condemn these incidents, one of which has led to the death of a man on our streets. There can never be any justification for shooting another person.
"Certainly three shootings in the space of 24 hours gives the impression of a growing cycle of violence in Belfast, whether any connection exists or not between them. The thugs behind them need taken off our streets immediately."
