Negotiations Over Programme For Govt To Begin
Negotiations over a programme for government are expected to begin at Stormont today, 09 May, following the election results.
The two main parties, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and Sinn Féin, have two weeks to reach an agreement.
The smaller parties are to decide if they will form an opposition.
Of the 108 candidates elected to Stormont, the DUP has 38, Sinn Fein 28, the Ulster Unionists 16, the SDLP 12, Alliance eight, People Before Profit Alliance (PBFA) two, Greens two, and the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) and independent Claire Sugden won one each.

Parties meet Reid for briefing on RUC reform package
Northern Ireland’s pro-agreement parties have held an intensive series of talks about reform of the RUC with the Secretary of State Dr John Reid at Hillsborough Castle. The meetings scheduled on Friday August 3 saw the Ulster Unionist Party, the Alliance Party and the SDLP meet with Dr Reid to discus the new implementation plan on police reform.

NI political parties invited to join 'devolution' committee
The Northern ireland Secretary of State, Peter Hain, has today invited the main political parties to sit on an Assembly Committee in a bid to restore devolution. It is understood that each of the main parties, the DUP, Sinn Fein, UUP and SDLP, will be given three places on the panel, with the Alliance party being given two.

DUP Accused Of 'Failing Unionism'
The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has accused the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) of "failing Unionism" as voter support falls to an all-time low. Ulster Unionist Peer, Lord Empey, made the accusation following a recent opinion poll which revealed that those voting for Unionist parties "are now a minority in Northern Ireland".

DUP leads assembly motion to exclude Sinn Féin
The Democratic Unionist Party has led a motion called for the republican party Sinn Féin to be excluded from the Northern Ireland executive for a year. The motion, which has gathered 30 signatures from anti-agreement unionists, is to be debated at a special session on Wednesday March 6.
